I just know that there is a Weekly Photo Challenge in WordPress.com and this week’s theme is colour (or color). After playing around black and white photos in the last two posts, I do want to do something more colourful so it’s a very good timing for my first ever participation in the challenge.
This picture was taken in Keukenhof, also known as the “Garden of Europe”, near a small town called Lisse in the Netherlands. It is also very close to Amsterdam and in fact there is a direct bus to there from the Schiphol Airport. The garden opens annually in April-May for a Flower Show and we actually went there twice to practise macro photography.
This picture is one of my most favourite pictures out of my 20000+ pictures taken in the last few years. The purple and green colours mix together exceptionally well and what I like most is the different “colour textures”. The background is just like an oil painting and the whole picture looks like a fusion between photography and drawing art.
I swear the only Photoshop tricks I did are to add a bit more exposure and sharpen the picture a very little bit. The effect just comes out naturally. I don’t know how I took it and since then I haven’t taken another one like this.
