As a non-native English speaker, I basically had no clue on what ephemeral means and so I looked it up at Google:
Ephemeral: lasting for a very short time.
At first I thought a picture of Northern Lights would fit the challenge nicely. Then I remembered sometimes Northern Lights can actually last for a very long time. It’s just unpredictable and not ephemeral. So I decided to look for something else and came up with: Whales.
This picture was taken at a whale watching boat trip while we were in Greenland. Whale watching itself is really a ephemeral activity because you won’t get any notification when a whale come up and it’s gone when you are just about to hold your camera up. I believe the locals may know some kind of indication of the whales’ whereabouts but even with that, you need to be always on alert as they come up and disappear very quickly.
Unfortunately in that trip I failed to take any “classic” whale pictures like a whale slapping its tail or jumping out from the water. The best I could do is this one when one of them blowing up steam of water.
I really can’t think of anything more ephemeral than it!
As an English native speaker, I had no idea either but your picture explains it perfectly!
Thanks a lot. No wonder people said a picture worth a thousand words!
Wow! You nailed it! 🙂 🙂
Thanks a lot!
