Urquhart Castle, Scotland, United Kingdom

I actually like Scotland a lot – well, at least in summer as I haven’t experienced the dark and cold winter there. Apart from highland sheep, ancient castle ruin is another Scotland’s theme.

Urquhart Castle is one of the largest castle ruin in Scotland. It was built in the 13th century and then abandoned in the 17th century. Even though it’s now largely destroyed, it is still not difficult to imagine how it was like in the past and if you can’t, you can go to the visitors’ centre there to see a model of its original form.

The castle is situated at a headland on the north-western side of Loch Ness. Because of it’s position, it’s a wonderful place to see Loch Ness. We were there in a nice summer day and it was just so comfortable to walk around there.
