Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (2), St. Petersburg, Russia
Last week I’ve published a post of Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. The picture in it was taken from the far end of the Greboyedov Canal of which the cathedral is situated nearby. In this post, let’s move a bit closer so that we can have a better appreciation of the beautiful exterior of the cathedral.
As you can see in this picture, the exterior of the cathedral is very detailed and most importantly, it is very well preserved. The cathedral was badly damaged in WWII and the current state was restored between 1970-1997. So it’s already nearly 20 years after the restoration and yet from this picture, it looks like a newly built cathedral!
