This week’s Photo Challenge is about “Inside” and the idea is to have a photo featuring something inside another thing. While my picture did not show something within something, I think it’s still a good fit – someone from inside.
This interesting statue is called Čumil. I think it’s a Slovak word but I don’t know what it exactly means. In English people called the statue the “Watcher” or “Man at Work”. It is one of the many bronze statues around the Old Town in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The Old Town is not very big and as you walk around, you can find several interesting bronze statues and Čumil is probably the most famous one. My another favourite is called Paparazzi which is a hidden around a corner in the street taking a photograph.
One side story: While I was taking this picture, I noticed another statue next to it which was a man leaning on a cubic stone. After taking enough pictures of Čumil, I moved to that statue and wanted to take some pictures. As I pointed my camera to it and starting to compose the picture from the viewfinder, the statue suddenly move!! It was actually a real man dressing/painting as a statue. I was shocked and at the end forgot to shoot this “living statue”!
