This week’s photo challenge has a theme of “Carefree” and needs a picture which means carefree and untroubled. Nowadays with the advent of technology, it’s very difficult to be carefree – as soon as you have a cell phone or an internet connection. Gone are the days when people apologised for being late and all people say nowadays is: “Didn’t you get my message saying I’ll be late?”
Comino is the smallest island in the Maltese archipelago and we’ve stayed for two nights there. The hotel did not have any internet connection and since people prefer to email/message more than phone call nowadays, I did not receive any call. Therefore we had a very peaceful period there, free from everyday hustle and bustle, and basically carefree.
The most famous “attraction” in Comino is the Blue Lagoon which is a beautiful beach area with clear azure water. In summer it may be quite crowded and so it’s actually better to stay overnight and go there earlier before the day trip people come. Indeed after those people return to Valletta in late afternoon, the island becomes very quiet and without any connection with the outside world, it’s a great place to stay carefree.
