Let’s continue our journey in the Art Nouveau District. This building, 13 Alberta Street, was another art nouveau style building that was shown in postcards or tourist books. It was designed by Mikhail Eisenstein, the same architect as the one who designed 10b, Elizabetes Street.
While the blue and light grey colours of 10b, Elizabetes Street combine to give a cool tone, the light orange and yellow colours of 13 Alberta Street bring a warm feeling. However when you see the big faces on the column (with the mouth opened), it actually looks a bit scary. In fact, the faces are so real that when I opened the picture on Apple’s iPhoto, the software asked me to name the faces – face detection got fooled.
