I still remembered my trip to Geneva wasn’t very enjoyable. It was not because Geneva was bad but more on my own condition. It was a weekend city break but before that I had a two week vacation to various places followed by a very tough working week. Therefore I didn’t have much stamina left and the warm weather made me feel even worse.
Nevertheless everything was booked and so we went ahead. Geneva was well known to the world for 2 things: (1) Headquarter locations of loads of international organisation (e.g. United Nation, World Health Organisation, World Trade Organisation, Red Cross, etc.) and (2) Luxury watches. For (1), they are mostly offices. For (2), we are not collectors and moreover, most luxury watch shops close in the weekend.
Luckily there were other things to see and this Jet d’Eau was one of them. It was originally a security valve of a hydraulic power network but now it becomes the icon of Geneva. No one can miss it as it’s well situated in the city centre and nothing can block its height of 140 meters. We did not go near it as we did not want to get wet but indeed at hindsight it might not be a bad idea to take a shower there!
