We have been to Tokyo Disneyland for several times but in those visits, I only brought a snapshot digital camera and therefore it was impossible to capture the famous Cinderella Castle in the evening. In our most recent visit I did have a D600 with me. With a full frame DSLR, I could use a higher ISO to make some night shots without a tripod (As you can see at the bottom of the picture, it was too crowded for a tripod.)
It’s still a challenge to shoot because the dynamic range between the castle exterior and the lights was very wide. Even if I’ve done some local exposure tuning in Photoshop, some of the finer details in the bright spots was lost.
By the way this year is Tokyo Disneyland’s 30th anniversary so you can see a big “30” hanging in the front side of the Castle.
