When I first saw this week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge, I was speechless. The theme is “Up” and the picture in the post is a viewpoint from the ground to two commercial buildings with an aeroplane flying across the sky. I have a similar picture and it would be a no-brainer for an entry – if I hadn’t posted it as the first post of this blog (the rule of the game is the entry needs to be a new post).
OK I need to find a new one – and I am lucky because I found it quickly. This photo was taken in the International Balloon Fiesta held annually in August at Bristol, UK. I don’t think I need to explain how it fits the theme – the balloons were going up and all people were looking up. Indeed the only word that can describe this picture apart from “balloon” will probably be “Up”.
I took the picture using an ultra zoom prosumer camera from Olympus called SP550UZ. The camera has a very impressive zoom range so I did take a lot of close up shots on the balloons. Unfortunately wide angle is not its strength so I could not get a picture on the whole site with 100+ balloons up in the air. The actual scene was actually quite stunning.
