I am a fan of Liverpool Football Club. They were not playing too well in the last couple of seasons but when you support a football club, you support it regardless of the results. If supporting Liverpool is a religion and I am a follower of this religion, the Anfield stadium will be the cathedral.
This picture was taken at a league game between Liverpool and its biggest rival, Manchester United at Anfield. At that time Liverpool was still one of the so called “Big 4” clubs. Watching a football game in live was a very different experience than watching it on a TV or in a pub. In fact, the experience started even before the game as you could feel the tension and excitement across the city (Remember we were playing against our most hated rival – there is a saying that Liverpool vs Manchester United is the biggest game in English football). In the game, people just kept on singing and shouting – no words can really describe the atmosphere.
Watching a game in live has another added effect – you are more concerned with the game result. It felt much better/worse if your team won/lost because (1) you had more people sharing your emotion and (2) you paid a lot to watch the game so you really want your team win! Luckily Liverpool won that game 2-0.
Lastly, as I want to experience more with my new toy Nik Collection (see the end of my previous post), I have added some special effects to the picture.
